HUNTINGTON – An arrest has been made in a Nov. 15 shooting that left one person hospitalized after an argument that police suspect was over drugs.
Alex Cooper, 38, of Huntington, was charged with attempted murder Tuesday morning after police executed a search warrant at his Charleston Avenue home in Huntington.
According to Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle and Deputy R.H. “Bob” McQuaid, a couple reported about 3:15 a.m. Nov. 15 that a man dressed in black broke into their apartment at a complex in the first block of Smith Drive, off of Norway Avenue in Huntington, and an argument ensued.
The couple reported the man fired his weapon and shot Marquis D. Martin twice, in the stomach and forearm, before fleeing in a black vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, Cooper shot Martin twice with a pistol. Video surveillance for the area showed a man identical to Cooper, and a vehicle matching Cooper’s was seen on video arriving and departing the area in the time frame.
