A Michigan man wanted on felony charges allegedly wrecked a stolen vehicle during a chase on Wednesday afternoon.
The vehicle reached a speed of 140 mph during the chase, according to the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Allen Cook said Christopher Lee Doss, 37, of an unknown address, is facing the following charges in Bamberg County: second-degree violent burglary, grand larceny, possession of a handgun during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen handgun, unlawful carrying of a handgun, simple possession of marijuana, failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving and no S.C. driver’s license.
Cook said Doss is also wanted by law enforcement in Michigan on charges of home invasion, stealing a handgun and stealing a vehicle.
The Bamberg County incident began at 4:28 p.m. when a River Bridge Road resident reported that someone stole his 1998 yellow Ford Mustang Cobra, Cook said.
“About one mile south of the city, we made contact with the vehicle on U.S. 301,” Cook said.
