Charleston police officers arrested 10 people during a warrant sweep on Monday.
WSAZ-TV reported that officers were targeting “criminal vagrants,” but the Charleston Police Department did not respond to the Gazette-Mail’s requests for confirmation. Court records show at least four of the people were homeless.
The allegations range from marijuana distribution to public intoxication, with the alleged violations taking place between 2015 and 2018.
Kendall Strong Jr., 34, had about 1.3 pounds of marijuana at his home on Granada Way, according to a criminal complaint. The marijuana was allegedly stored in 29 separate bags. During their search on Monday, police also found plastic bags, digital scales and receipts for money transfers, the complaint states.
Victoria Turner, 35, was arrested on a violation dating back to Nov. 8, 2017. She trespassed the property near Boll Medical, in the 1200 block of Washington Street East, according to her citation. Her address listed in the citation is 600 Shrewsbury Street, the address for Covenant House.
