A mother and her son pleaded not guilty to drug charges leveled against them in a Kanawha County courtroom Tuesday morning.
The pair was among 13 people who were arraigned before Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
An anonymous tip led authorities to the home of Jose Miguel Myers, 20, and Mary Jane Myers, 46, last July, according to a criminal complaint.
The mother and son live on South Park Road, in Charleston, the complaint states.
Assistant Prosecutor Michele Drummond said during the hearing that Mary Jane Myers allegedly had nearly 2,000 Xanax pills in her bedroom.
Drummond said Jose Myers allegedly had 1.5 grams of suspected heroin, 1.6 grams of marijuana and 37 Roxicodone pills.
Authorities also found a handgun and a high-capacity magazine under Jose Myers’ mattress, Drummond said.
The pair was indicted on eight charges related to the possession and delivery of a controlled substance after a meeting of the grand jury in January.
Indictments are not a finding of fact; it means only that grand jurors have decided that enough evidence exists to warrant
