The discovery of nearly 200 marijuana plants inside a house led to the arrest of three Fort Smith residents Wednesday.
Kevin Charles Mills, 24, Alexandria Elizabeth Nelting, 24, and Judith Mills, 65, were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of a controlled substance in connection with the discovery of the plants. Nelting was additionally arrested on a parole violation, a Police Department news release states.
The Fort Smith Police Department received a tip stating that there were hundreds of marijuana plants, peyote cactus and “unprescribed methadone” inside a residence in the 6800 block of Red Bud Drive this week. Members of the Police Department’s K-9 and narcotics units investigated the residence on Wednesday, the release states.
Officers found 183 growing marijuana plants in two of the bedrooms in the residence, the release states. One of the rooms containing the marijuana plants contained a two-by-four wall containing items believed to be tied to a growing operation in the residence.
