CHARLESTON — The schedule for May’s interim meetings of the state Legislature has been released, and the schedule includes a time set aside for a special session during which lawmakers could pass new laws.
But Gov. Jim Justice, who earlier this year said he would probably call a special session in May to ask lawmakers to create an arts department, has not officially made the call for a special session.
“When it is finalized and a special call is issued, it will be sent out via press release,” said Butch Antolini, a spokesman for the governor, in an emailed statement.
No such press release was sent out by Wednesday afternoon.
The interim meetings schedule that was posted to the Legislature’s website lists a time for a special session — 6-7 p.m. Sunday. No such time was set aside for Monday or Tuesday.
Amending the state’s sports betting law might also be included in the call for a special session.
