One man finds himself back in jail a month before transitioning out of the federal prison system.
Late Tuesday evening, members of the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) with the assistance of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) K9 Unit executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Pine Grove Drive.
There, agents seized approximately 10 ounces of marijuana with an estimated street value of up to $3,500, items commonly associated with the distribution of marijuana, and more than $7,700 in U.S. currency.
CNT arrested 32-year-old Jywanza Green of Savannah. Green was charged with a number of felonies to include but not limited to Sale of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime. Green remains in the Chatham County Detention Center after being denied bond earlier today in the Recorder’s Court of Chatham County, Georgia.
CNT’s investigation into Green began back in December 2014 following information received from the CCSO Enforcement Bureau. During a CCSO operation, deputies received information Green was on federal release and possibly selling marijuana throughout Chatham County to include Georgetown and Pooler, Georgia.
CNT was familiar with Green after he was federally prosecuted following a CNT drug investigation. With the assistance of Federal Probation, CNT confirmed Green was transitioning between federal prison and probation, was registered at a residence on Pine Grove Drive and was wearing an ankle monitor. Green was set to be placed on federal probation in February 2015.
During the course of the investigation, CNT agents working in an undercover capacity, made multiple purchases of marijuana from Green who bragged about his previous federal arrest.
