CHARLESTON — An Oregon man is jailed in Coles County for allegedly planning to sell 15 pounds marijuana in Mattoon to a person cooperating with police.
Jordan Scott Cameron was arrested outside the Alamo Steakhouse in Mattoon on Jan. 25 after police learned of the planned sale of the marijuana with a street value of more than $130,000, according to records in his case.
Cameron, 52, for whom records list an address on Grants Pass, Ore., is charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. The amount of marijuana allegedly involved means he faces an offense that would require prison time if he’s convicted.
Police records in the case say a man cooperating with the Mattoon-based East Central Illinois Task Force drug investigation unit indicated he was contacted on Jan. 22 about buying marijuana from a person later identified as Cameron.
ECITF officers had the man call the person selling the marijuana and arrange the day and location for the sale, the records say.
