BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Officers served search warrants at six marijuana dispensaries Monday that resulted in eight people being arrested.
The operation is part of a plan to shut down marijuana dispensaries, which are illegal under City of Bakersfield law.
The locations that were chosen to be searched had already been made aware of their illegal statuses by the City Attorney’s Office, according to police.
The arrests were for various misdemeanor offenses, police said.
Officers seized one gun, $6,500 in cash and a large amount of marijuana during the operation.
Code Enforcement Officers also discovered numerous structural and code violations with each location. All six locations were posted as unsafe for occupancy.
Since Oct. 1, police have closed down 48 dispensaries.
