An Aiken teen was charged Thursday in connection with an overnight shooting on Palm Drive.
Nicholas Lashawn Worthy, 18, is charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana second offense, according to Aiken Public Safety.
Officers responded to the 400 block of Palm Drive around 10 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of shots fired in the area and found an 18-year-old victim, according to a release.
The victim was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Centers by a family member and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the suspect flee on foot, according to the release.
Officers canvased the area and located a pistol, a shoe and a quantity of marijuana behind a residence where the suspect was reportedly last seen, the release states.
Shortly after the discovery of the items listed above, officers observed a vehicle traveling slowly on the 700 block of Palm Drive and witnessed the suspect enter the vehicle from the shadows, police reported.
