Hot Springs Village police received several reports of scams in the past week. Two emails threatened recipients, and another Villager lost $5,000.
Two men were reportedly cutting trees near Zafiro Lane. The complainant said the trailer did not have a license plate and one man stood in front of the truck’s plate so she could not read it. A responding officer found a dead tree that had been cut down, with part of it dragged to the road, but not loaded. The men, truck and trailer were gone.
A Villager told police a caller, “Deputy Davis,” told her she owed $1,000 on two Garland County warrants for missing jury duty. She called the Village police department, which confirmed it was a scam.
After stopping a Ford F-150 after it exited Balboa Gate for having expired temporary tags, the driver was arrested on a Bauxite Police Department warrant for insufficient funds. She was taken to Saline County jail.
A resident reported hearing gunshots in the area of North Barcelona Road and Tomina Way.
