COLDWATER — Samuel Thompson, 20, of Lyman, South Carolina, was charged with possession of marijuana products with intent to distribute them after an I-69 traffic stop on Christmas Day.
Michigan State Police stopped Thompson for speeding — he was doing 85 mph on the interstate — and smelled the odor of marijuana.
A search of the car turned up 140 grams — a third of a pound — packaged in individual baggies for sale. Troopers also found 15 packages — each weighing 64 grams — of a waxy oil substance infused with marijuana.
That totaled just over two pounds of the drug.
Thompson also had possession of 180 grams of edible marijuana product, weighing just over .4 pounds.
With him was Jordyn Potter, 21, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, who had in her purse a package of marijuana similar to those Thompson had.
