South Carolina is not a friendly place for medical cannabis patients. Hopefully, that will change soon. Below is an alert that I received out of South Carolina yesterday. If you live there, make sure to contact your lawmakers early and often and let them know that you support medical cannabis reform:
Lawmakers returned to Columbia this week, and work on a comprehensive medical marijuana law, the South Carolina Compassionate Care Act (S 212/ H 3521), is expected to continue. Introduced last year, the bill would allow seriously ill patients access to medical cannabis from state-regulated dispensaries. The bill gained significant interest before time ran out last year.
Last February, a subcommittee of the House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee heard testimony and advanced the bill to the full committee. Unfortunately, the committee did not vote on the bill before the end of the year. This year, we hope the committee will advance it to the full House for a vote without further delay.
In the Senate, a subcommittee of the Senate
