A South Carolina man was arrested on drug charges after police say they found marijuana in his parked car at the Ashe County Courthouse.
The Jefferson Post reports Joshua Thomas Smith, age 23 of, Little River, South Carolina, was arrested Thursday July 27th. Smith had a court appearance on unrelated charges. A search warrant was executed on Smith’s vehicle after seeing what officers believed was marijuana in a jar in the vehicle. According to the report, a K9 Unit confirmed the presence of drugs in the car. Smith was being held at the Ashe County Jail on $1,200 secured bond. His next scheduled court appearance is Aug. 17.
The Jefferson Post also reports Christopher Robert Miller, age 31, of West Jefferson, was charged with breaking and entering after an investigation into multiple reported break-ins and larcenies on Frank Dillard Road, Highway 221 N and NC Highway 88 E. Miller was held in the Ashe County Detention Center under a $1200 secure bond and an August 10th court date. Additional charges are pending concluding the investigation.
