KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) — UPDATE 3/22/18 @ 11:11 a.m.
A digital scale and a large amount of meth has a man facing drug charges for a second time in the last few months.
Matthew Anderson, 42, of South Charleston, was arraigned Thursday for a possession with intent charge for having methamphetamine and a DUI charge.
Nitro Police say about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday they pulled over Anderson for talking on his cell phone while driving.
Police say Anderson told them there was a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle under the passenger seat and also a digital scale in the driver side door.
Once out of the vehicle, Anderson discarded a suspected bag of meth under the patrol vehicle, according to officers. They say it was a large amount consistent with the sale and distribution of drugs.
Anderson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 29.
Back in November he was charged with a misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. At the time he was listed as a guidance counselor at East Bank Middle School.
