The Columbia County District Attorney’s office has filed felony drug charges against a Wisconsin Dells man found with the key to a motel room where guns and marijuana were found.
Johany Abernathy-Duewel, 19, is charged with felony counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession with intent to distribute marijuana along with misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer, bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Dec. 12, a Wisconsin Dells police officer was parked across the street from the Deer Trail Motel for an unrelated matter and reported seeing Abernathy-Duewel acting suspiciously after leaving one of the Deer Trail rooms. The officer spoke with Abernathy-Duewel as he was walking on River Road, at which point he told the officer that he was not a registered guest and had been visiting a friend.
According to the criminal complaint, Abernathy-Duewel was carrying two cellphones and a key to the room in question. The officer told him that he was free to go and proceeded to search the room. The officer noticed a smell
