CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) — A West Virginia University football player has been cited for having a gun at a high school sporting event in Charleston.
According to WV Metronews in Charleston, 19-year-old Derrek Pitts of South Charleston was cited for having the weapon at George Washington High School Saturday night.
The report says Pitts was George Washington versus South Charleston basketball game. He admitted to officers he was carrying a gun. The officers also say they smelled marijuana in his vehicle, but no drugs were found.
Pitts was cited for having a concealed weapon on the school’s property while being under the age of 21.
